As more and more details are becoming known regarding the taxpayer funded vacation taken to Anseong, South Korea and Hanno, Japan last year by Don Schweitzer, Brett Murdock and Tim O’Donnell it is apparent that we’ve been played for fools.
We want our money back!
I believe there are more than sufficient grounds to demand that Council compel Schweitzer, Murdock and O’Donnell to pay the city back the $3,000+ they each spent on the trip.
I also believe that O’Donnell should reclassify the time he has charged the city to “paid vacation” and thereby reduce the city’s liability for his accrued vacation pay by $8,500.
Complete details to follow.
Brea Matters is close to having all of the documentation a sensible person would require to come to the conclusions presented here. A follow-up post will be added quite soon.
The OCR is getting on the band wagon:

Mark… Doug Morino put together a good piece, well researched and rings clearly of the truth. The evasive, protective comments from Schweitzer and O’Donnell are little more than a continuation of the lies and half truths they’ve foisted on the public in an attempt to justify what most see as a misappropriation of public funds. Murdock remains silent because he still has his foot stuck in his mouth after his major fail debating the initiatives last year.
Through the CPRA process I have most of what I need to make a pretty solid case for demanding Schweitzer, Murdock and O’Donnell repay the city, that O’Donnell correct the classification of his time while abroad and, if authorities agree that there was a misappropriation of public funds, that Murdock and O’Donnell also are forced to resign. My next post on this topic, likely in another week or so, should go into even more detail that Morino’s article.
I look forward to seeing it. E-mail me when it is posted. The better the light shines on your council the better it is for the surrounding cities, serving as a deterent to those council members, thus my interest.
Mark… I’ve added you to my alerts list and look forward to interacting with you. Please pass the link to Brea Matters along to others who share our interests and concerns.
“We really built a strong bridge with our sister city.” – Schweitzer
Yeah. It’s called “The Bridge To Nowhere.”
“It was an insult to suggest this was a vacation,” – O’Donnell
We’re not suggesting Mr. O’Donnell, we’re pointing the finger directly at you!
Waiting in anticiapation of your next blog entry!!!
