Operation Clean Sweep.

roy_hatIn Roy Moore’s Brea Net 690, he boldly pushed the Council’s dysfunction into the light, saying, “I am disheartened by this situation and reluctantly come to the conclusion that the solution is to not vote for any incumbents… I would call this Operation Clean Sweep.”

I promised to run with his idea and created three simple pieces of art to make yard signs, a staple of the Brea Silly Season. Now I’m passing the idea on to you, Brea voters, and invite you to put your money where your mouth is.

NoBrettThese yard signs can be made one-at-a-time, at very reasonable prices. I’ve given the art to Anthony Bastiery at Hi Sign, located at 2700 East Imperial Hwy., Suite K – just east of Kramer on the south side of the street. Give Anthony a call at (714) 993-0912 for pricing.

I’ve long said that a strong city needs a strong Council, one that works well together and keeps the people’s interest ahead of their own. We need a Council that will rise above petty personal issues and shortsighted biases… and the only way to get such a Council is to sweep City Hall clean.

The rallying cry of Operation Clean Sweep is, “No incumbents in 2014!” Find three candidates ready, willing and able to represent you properly and give them the opportunity they deserve.

  1. If we are lucky enough to get three new faces out of the November 2014 election we can’t allow the influence of the City Manager, City Attorney and the remaining “old” city council members to corrupt the new inductees.

    • Dave… I hope it doesn’t come down to luck, but that Operation Clean Sweep succeeds because Brea voters did their homework and choose wisely. But I wouldn’t mind a good little luck as well.

    • I agree with you, Rick Clark. But how do we keep our new city council from being influenced by the others. I would like to be able to speak with the City Manager and also the City Attorney. So far, I haven’t found out who they are.

      • Peggie… You can use the search function right here on Brea Matters to find articles where Tim O’Donnell, City Manager and James Markman, City Attorney have been mentioned. IMHO, their heavy handed oversight of Council and their typically arrogant and dismissive attitude toward those they have been hired to serve make them the last folks I would trust to provide an unbiased opinion on anything.

They undoubtedly have equally unfavorable opinions about me and what is written here. I wear their disdain as a badge of honor and the growing number of regular Brea Matters readers, for the most part, seem to feel as I do.

But please, come to your own conclusions. You can reach O’Donnell at (714) 990-7711 and Markman at (714) 990-0901. I’d suggest preparing a couple of key questions where you’ve already discerned at least some of the facts (truth). The reason should become obvious if or when you speak with them.

  2. I have lived in Brea for 33 years and raised 4 children here as well. I always do research before I vote, however, I still haven’t uncovered anything straight forward regarding “Operation Clean Sweep”.

Can someone please inform me on the “FACTS only” regarding this?

On a personal note, I went to high school with Brett Murdock, and based on my own personal experience, he is a very respectable person. Again, just looking for the FACTS so that I can make an informed decision.

    Thank you.

    • Aymee… sounds like you strive to be an informed voter. That’s exactly what we need around here.

I’ve asked Roy Moore to email you his latest Brea Net newsletter. He too does a good job clearing up fact from fiction.
